It is not hard to see why hiking is popular in the Cape. There are numerous mountain ranges stretching beyond the winelands as well as a number of nature reserves that you can visit for day walks. Many Capetonians and visitors enjoy the popular walk up and down Table Mountain and Lions Head where you are treated to great views of the Cape Peninsula.
If you would like to walk up these mountains in a group, there is an organisation called 'Friends of the Lion' that arranges walks up Lions Head on a weekly basis with everyone invited.
Some popular areas for hiking include:
Cecilia Forest
Cederberg Moutains
