Table Mountain

Majestic Table Mountain overlooking the entire city of Cape Town is best visited on a clear day. The queues to the cable car are sometimes long but move along at a very reasonable speed.

The very top of the Mountain can be reached either by hiking or by paying for a ticket to take the revolving cable car up. For those interested in one way trips, it is possible to have the best of both worlds, that is to hike up Table Mountain and catch the cable car down with a one-way ticket. Whilst at the top, you can walk along the mountain top for panoramic views of the city of Cape Town, Clifton, Camps Bay, Hout Bay, Table Bay and the West Coast and the Cape Winelands Mountains in the distance.

Table mountain is the home of a small particular creature, the dassie. This small rodent like animal is not a rodent at all in fact, but most closely related to the elephant. Be nice to the dassies up top, don't bother or harass them and please do not feed them, they are more than capable of finding their own food.

Food and refreshments are available at the top of the mountain in the restaurant.
