The long and popular Stellenbosch Wine Route has a wine variety to suite every taste from Chardonnay to Sauvignon Blanc to Chenin Blanc for whites, and from Pinotage to Cabernet Sauvignon to Merlot and Shiraz for reds.
The Stellenbosch wine region comprises over 300 producing members. It's no wonder the region has produced award winning wines exported to the 4 corners of the globe. The production area is split into 5 districts: Bottelary Hills, the Greater Simonsberg, the Helderberg, Stellenbosch Berg and Stellenbosch Hills. All 5 districts produce excellent wines!
If you enjoy wines and are interested in going wine tasting, most of the wine estates are open to the public. It is best to check beforehand whether or not they are open, particularly on Sundays and during the low season of May to October. A few of the more popular estates are listed bellow.
