'Moederkerk' means 'motherchurch' in Afrikaans. This beautiful church and its gardens are at the 'top' end of the town of Stellenbosch and can be reached from Dorp Street. The pristine kerk is snow white with intricate stained glass windows and is open for visits to the general public. It's current Neo-Gothic Architecture is the work of German Carl Otto Hager and was completed in 1863.
