Knysna - Garden Route

The town of Knysna is commonly regarded as the heart of the Garden Route. The Knysna lagoon runs along the banks of the town, through to the Knysna Heads and into the Indian ocean, giving the greater area of town a wonderful setting.

In town, the small waterfront area is quite lively with bars, restaurants and various shops. It is also possible to go for a boat ride, departing from the harbour, along the lagoon up to the Knysna Heads or on a deep sea fishing expedition.

Visitors to the area can enjoy a variety of activities including:
Canoeing
Fishing
Golf
Hiking
Horse Riding
Sailing
Scuba Diving

For those interested in relaxing, Knysna Beaches are a great place to relax and soak up some sun. Visit Buffalo Bay and Bollard Bay. Otherwise, the beaches of Noetzie and their famous castles are an excellent retreat from the high season crowds.

Not only this but Knysna is also well known for its culinary delights with many excellent restaurants in town. The seafood and especially the oysters are particularly good. The Knysna oysters are aquacultured in the large oyster beds at sea and are supplied for the famous Knysna Oyster Festival held each year.
