Jeffrey's Bay - Garden Route

Jeffrey's Bay is South Africa's surfing mecca and said to be home to the best right hand point break in the world.

Internationally acclaimed as one of the best breaks in the world, J'Bay is a popular destination for surfers. But that's not all there is to do. Long walks on the beaches, shopping at the Surf Clothing Factory outlets, sampling delicious seafood and enjoying the local area including Cape St Francis make the Jeffrey's Bay area a great place for a visit. You can also visit the famous Addo Elephant Park, about 2 hours away by car, and Port Elizabeth while there.

The Tubes, Super Tubes, Impossibles, Kitchen Windows, Boneyards and the Point offer great breaks for different types of surfers. The best swells come in winter when the swells increase and surfers come flocking hoping for off-shore winds and big swell. We'd recommend that beginners avoid trying most of the breaks in J'Bay, barring Kitchen Windows and the Point on small days, as they are not suitable for novices. It's also a good idea to be polite and wait your turn when surfing in Jeffrey's. Locals are more than willing to share the waves with you as long as you respect everybody else out there as well.
