Greyton was founded back in 1854 and is in the heart of the Overberg. The picturesque town was named after Sir George Grey, a past Governor of the Cape. The village is characterised by old restored buildings, cosy restaurants and hotels and beautiful country gardens set in idyllic homes.
The town has a popular market on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. with locals selling fresh produce, enticing cakes, paintings, cheeses and antiques. The Spring Rose Fair in October every year is also a popular event.
In around Greyton activities include horse riding, fishing, golf, hiking, a visit to Genadendal down the road, and just plain relaxing in this beautiful little spot in the world.
