Genadendal - Overberg

The small Overberg town of Genadendal was established as a Moravian Missionary by Georg Schmidt in 1738. The town is just a short drive away from popular Greyton.

The most interesting part of town is the Mission which is comprised of national monuments. The imposing church dominates the square but there are also a museum documenting the town history, a craft workshop, a spinning and weaving workshop, an old water mill and other interesting buildings to visit.

The nature reserve around Genadendal is the largest such reserve protecting the rare lowland fynbos of the Cape Floristic Region. Take the time to enjoy the outdoors in and around Genadendal by hiking, fishing, horse riding, bird watching and any of the other popular outdoor activities available to you in the area.
