Ceres is named after the Roman goddess of agriculture and serves as the gateway to the ruggedness and wilderness of the Cederberg mountains. The local area in summer is a favourite amongst outdoor enthusiasts, springtime in Ceres is blossom time, autumn signals the coming of winter with the foliage turning a brilliant red and winter brings with it the snowfalls. Hiking, camping, fruit, mountain streams and beautiful surroundings aptly describe Ceres and the surrounding area.
