Cape Point, Cape Peninsula and the Cape of Good Hope

Cape Point is in the Cape of Good Hope Nature reserve along the Cape Peninsula.

The present lighthouse standing on the top of Cape Point was built in 1914 and houses one of the most powerful lights in the world. It is a steep climb up the numerous stairs to reach the top of Cape Point to the lighthouse. For those averse to a bit of exercise, the impaired or older, there is also a 'bus' that can take you up to the top for a small fee.

Cape Point has magnificent views of the surrounding ocean, the whole of False Bay and the Hottentots Holland Mountains in the distance. The most southerly tip of the Peninsula is not Cape Point but the Cape of Good Hope two kms from Cape Point in the popular Nature reserve.

Be careful, the baboons are not the friendliest creatures...
