Cape Town Stadium has a capacity of 68,000 seated visitors. Built for the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa, the stadium took 33 months to complete and is located in Green Point and replaced the old 18,000 seater Green Point Stadium. The stadium is a fantastic modern facility with easy access from central Cape Town, good views from almost anywhere in the seats and a prime position next to the Green Point Park and Atlantic Ocean.
The stadium development ushered in a revamp of the area and major roads leading to it. The Green Point Park was built and opened on 3 April 2010 adjacent to the stadium. The park provides locals and foreigners alike a playground to relax and exercise in. The park features water displays, informational displays about the flora of the Cape, play areas for children and plenty of well tended grass lawns to lay down and relax, take in the sun or have a picnic.
