The Canal Walk or Century City centre is by the far the largest shopping centre in the Western Cape. It can be reached in 5 minutes by driving along the N1 freeway from the City of Cape Town. Canal Walk has all the local chain stores and is huge in size. In addition there are numerous clothing boutiques, bookstores, jewellery shops, hairdressers, cinemas and speciality stores. There is also a big food quarter with numerous takeaway outlets as well as restaurants and coffee shops. This shopping centre is flanked by business offices, luxury apartment blocks and townhouse developments.
