Health in Cape Town

Cape Town and it's surrounding areas are clean and safe health wise. The Western Cape is malaria free, the drinking water is of excellent quality, the oceans and beaches are pristine and the area is free of sickness and disease.

The sun in Cape Town and the Western Cape is very strong. Visitors are recommended to wear strong sun block and hats to avoid suffering from sunburn and sun-stroke.

South Africa has a high prevalence of HIV and AIDS. Visitors are recommended to not use intra-venous drugs, share needles, have unprotected sex and be wary when in contact with injured victims.

The private medical sector is of outstanding quality and service. Visitors should visit the many private clinics and centers while in Cape Town if medical assistance is required. Prior to departure all visitors should ensure that adequate travel insurance is obtained to cover any accidental injuries or medical problems while in South Africa.
