The electricity supply in South Africa is provided at 220/230 volts 50 Hz. Wall plugs are domestically manufactured and are not compatible with foreign plugs. Adaptors are widely available in major supermarkets, electrical shops and other stores for French style plugs and are also available for UK, US and Asian appliances for those wishing to use them locally.
Batteries for digital cameras, flashlight and other appliances are also widely available in shops in AAA, AA, C, D and 9V variants.
