The South African currency is the Rand. The Rand is divisible into 100 cents. Paper denominations include 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Rand notes. Coins in circulation are 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent coins in addition to 1, 2 and 5 Rand coins. When purchasing goods, all values will be rounded up or down to the nearest 5 or 10 cent value. Do not accept 1 and 2 cent coins, these are no longer legal tender.
