Scuba diving is a popular activity for visitors to Cape Town and the Western Cape. The waters around the city of Cape Town offer an unforgettable experience in the vast kelp forests or exploring one of the many wrecks along its shores. The waters in the Atlantic are very cold, often only reaching 8 degrees celsius, so divers should wear appropriate gear.
East from False Bay, the waters get warmer and divers will experience slightly different environments to that of the Cape Town area. Popular amongst divers is great white shark cage diving, most notably in the area of Gansbaai.
